This was posted earlier today. I don't care, the evening crowd needs to see it.
I gotta say, I'm really impressed.

That's pretty accurate

Now let's see if they got the melt-rate of Niki's face right.
No, I feel bad for typing that.

Was the cause of the accident accurate?
In the movie the car has a mechanical issue that leads to the accident.

Don't see how Ron Howard could of done it any differently seeing that anyone who saw Rush probably googled "Niki Lauda crash" too. Plus I think he has too much respect for Niki to embellish something that horrific.

It was either suspension failure or he lost control on a damp portion of the track. He has no memory of the moments leading up to the crash.

I just caught the movie on Saturday. I always wonder with these "bio-pics"... did Niki really try to cancel the race because of the weather and how 'archaic' the 'Ring was (in 1976!)? And was James Hunt really the guy who lead the opposition and wanted to race? I also wonder if James Hunt really beat up that reporter, because that was a cool, but pretty unlikely, scene.
In any case, this is a shockingly great recreation. I hope more people see the movie!

As far as I'm aware the part where Hunt beats the crap out of the report was the only "made up" part of the film. Although a few parts were exaggerated (the rivalry between the drivers) or downplayed a bit to appeal more to non-race fans.

Slightly off-topic and morbid, but I'd pay good money to see a re-creation of Jackie Stewart's Spa ordeal, in real time.
It's not me being sick, it's the fact that it was the genesis that began his safety consciousness. Hell, the fact that F1 is so safe could arguably be pointed back to those 20+ minutes he spent trapped in his car.

I would actually really love to see Jackie Stewart's career in the style of Rush.
Ron Howard, I think you have a sequel!

I would love to do an interview with Jackie Stewart going through minute-by-minute of that. I don't think there's many people still alive who could fathom going through what he did mentally.
Most people would have walked away from racing. He didn't just stick with it, he tried to make it better for future drivers.
edit - I'd be more than happy with a short film about those minutes in the car. Don't even show the crash, just begin when the car comes to a rest, and end when they pull him out of the car.

I'm imagining it in my head and I'm disappointed that it doesn't exist.

The role he was born to play.

Yeah most of it is pretty accurate. I don't think Lauda was at the Junior formula race at the start with Hunt either, but apart from that it's pretty damn good.

Oh cool. They did a great job.
Did they include any of the real footage in the film? I thought they had.

They may have used some of Lauda's real crash on TV. I know all of the footage shown on TVs was actual footage from their respective races.
